Secretary/Treasurer’s Corner
The Port Angeles reunion was very successful. To see the scenery in the area was worth the trip.
Gloria and I enjoyed the activities very much that President Lois Shaw had lined up for the group.
The trip to the native American Salmon Bake was one of the highlights. We were able to see the
salmon baked around an open fire. We also saw how totem poles are made which was very interesting.
Another highlight was our ferry trip to Victoria, B.C. and the Titanic movie and exhibit that was there.
The exhibit had many of the artifacts that had been recovered from the wreckage site in the Atlantic.
The movie covered the building of the ship and the recovery missions that were conducted more
than two miles deep in the ocean. The reunion was also a success financially as we came out on
the plus side of the ledger.
Many of our members have trouble keeping track of their dues payments. For those of you who
don’t know, we tell you where you stand every time a newsletter is sent. If you will take a look
at the mailing label on this newsletter, you will see a date. That date is the last year for which you
have paid dues. So if it says 2006 you still owe dues for 2007 and your dues were delinquent as
of August 2007. We will keep you on the rolls until August 2008. So if you want to keep your
membership, please send me a check. If you don’t agree with that date, contact me.
The address is P. O. Box 2109, Freedom, CA 95019. Dues are only $10 per year.
While you are doing that you might as well include your 2008 dues which are due January 2008.
Remember, we don’t send out dues notices and dues are payable January each year. We really
hate to lose any more members since we lost 42 members this year who did not pay their
2006 dues. Presently there are 80 members who have yet to pay dues for 2007. It is sad to
see our organization dwindling away. If you have any contact with anyone who is eligible to
join FSR give them the Membership Application out of this newsletter. We really need new
members. There seems to be many former and present Flight Standard people who are not
aware that we exist. Let them know.
I thought 2007 would be my last year as Secretary/Treasurer, but we didn’t find anyone who
was willing to take the job. So I will be doing it for one more year. I hope someone will volunteer
and come forward and take over in 2009.
