Bernard A. Geier
Bernard A. Geier 82 died January 18, 2007. He was born in Avalon, PA , worked as an airplane
mechanic in Santa Ana, CA and learned to fly in his teens. He served as a flight instructor with the
Army Air Force during World War II. After the war he was a Flight Instructor under contract with
the USAF in California and Tuscon.
In 1957 he joined the FAA in Fresno, CA and later served in Billings, MT, Milwaukee, and
Kansas City. He was assigned in Washington on 1972 and was Chief of General Aviation when he retired in 1985.
Mr. Geier was a director and president of the National Association of Flight Instructors and a member
of the Silver Wings Fraternity. He was also a member Washington Hangar of the Quiet Birdmen,
an association of retired pilots. His wife of 54 years, Beverly Geier died in 2003.
